Well, I wouldn’t want to spoil EVERYTHING (you’ll have to wait and see about Ben), but I will go ahead and give you that it will hurt. It will hurt a LOT. There will be words of pain. We are hard at work on the revamps and TBH I can’t wait for everyone to read them either! Some of them, like Cambion, are still recognizably the same story with lots of nice rewriting and scene expansions, some of them will be pretty different! And like 15k longer. (Synchronicity and To Build A Home come to mind.) And if we ever get all that posted, we have new stories too. IT’S VERY EXCITING. We have a loooot of material, just, none of it’s quite “done” enough to post. BUT SOON. Soon.

Introducing: Hunter Birch
After selling his soul for a heavenly weapon, Aaron Birch finds himself kidnapped and abandoned in a crime scene, with neither weapon nor soul. He sets off in search of the angel who took his soul, and his quest leads him to an unusual prison.
(Only a few hours earlier, Sam Winchester, still without a soul, had said Prison full of monsters. Can’t just leave ‘em, can’t let ‘em go.)
(A few days before that, Crowley took a baby from the first creature to ever shift its skin and said Don’t worry, I built a nursery just for you.)
Aaron doesn’t know where the baby came from or why it was left behind, when so many monsters lie dead around it. But the baby’s crying and he isn’t heartless. Aaron loved his big brother. Why not become one himself?
It doesn’t take him long to work out that his new sibling isn’t human. Overwhelmed but determined to see this through, Aaron learns how to take care of a child on the road—and more importantly, how to protect them. From a young age, he warns them about angels.
Aaron lets them change looks and name and gender as they choose, though each new face means a new town and a new cover story. Shifting is painful and scary, and they’re young enough that they can’t always control what they look like after they shed their skin, but for now they settle into a child that looks as much like Aaron as they can manage.
When they’re old enough, they ask Aaron what their real name is. Aaron tells them he doesn’t know, but they should pick one for themself. “We’re angel hunters, right?” they ask. “So my name will be Hunter.”
Hunter is fancast as four children in this photoset: Jaden Smith, Amandla Stenberg, Sayeed Shahidi, and Willow Smith. However, as Hunter is a shapeshifter, they can take on potentially infinite faces. Aaron and Hunter will be appearing in Envesseled and the rewrite of To Build A Home.

Before we start writing the next fic, there are a host of problems in the other fics that needs fixing in order to keep the ‘verse consistent. (Details being off, gross/problematic elements, plotholes that don’t stick between stories, TYPOS.) So we’re reworking everything. That’s why suddenly the fics that have 5k as posted have 20k in the docs/on the chart I just posted, and it’s why the sudden radio silence even on the art front. We’re working, I promise! We just…haven’t posted any of it yet. It’s not quite ready.
Anyway, I would keep an eye out for the redux of Cambion first :D Since it’s the one we’re closest to finishing! (I’d say we’re maybe 40% done.)
For the most part, redux’d writing will still recognizable as the same fic—we’re keeping most of the major plot structures etc—but we’re
- improving the writing,
- fixing details,
- extending scenes,
- detailing backstories,
- adding characters,
- pumping up the amount of feels,
- and getting everyone more IC. (We hardly knew them when we started writing Cambion, after all.)
So there will be nice things for new readers and nice things for readers who have read it before and are kind enough to read again. :D
So yeah, this is the official Project Redux announcement I guess! It might be awhile before you see Stuff, but it will be good stuff. Consistent. Tasty. (If you like the taste of your own angsty tears I guess.)
